Rising star Hammond organist Eric Finland is quickly becoming known for his funky grooves, perfect accompaniment and explosive solos. He has had the privilege of playing with such notable artists as Greg Allman, Michael Mcdonald, Paul Shaffer, Nona Hendrix, George Clinton, J.Geils, Joe Louis Walker, Taj Mahal and many more. to name a few. ALEXIS COLE "SONGS OF THE SEASON"
Alexis Cole will bring her holiday jazz show to Uncle Cheef on December 14, featuring a festive mix of classic holiday tunes and jazz standards from her album "The Greatest Gift". In addition to these seasonal favorites, the show will highlight original songs by her father, pianist and singer Mark Finkin, marking a special collaboration they’ve been developing. Joining her on stage will be bassist Nick Morrison and drummer Daniel Gonzalez, who, along with Mark Finkin, have been part of their recent Father + Daughter recording sessions. This unique event promises a blend of holiday cheer, heartfelt originals, and rich jazz arrangements perfect for the season.

Drummer Dennis Boolyoins was born and raised in Brazil's northeastern city of João Pessoa and he started his formal music education at the age of nine, attending classes at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). Dennis holds the title of "XI Batuka! Master" after winning first place in Brazil's most prestigious international drum contest, Batuka! Brasil, 2010. While living in Brazil, he performed with several artists including Sivuca, Maria Creuza, Marinês, Lucy Alves, Oswaldinho do Acordeon, Letieres Leite, Antonio Barros e Cecéu, Proveta, Silvério Pontes, Paraiba Symphony Orchestra. Since 2014, when Dennis moved to NY to pursue a Master in Jazz Studies at Queens College, he has being involved with different artists and groups, playing and sharing the stage with names like: Helio Alves, Ari Hoenig, Eduardo Belo, Ehud Asherie, Roni Ben-Hur among many others. In 2022, Dennis published two books about Brazilian drumming. Since 2023 Dennis has been touring around the globe with Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto playing music from her new album João.

EARLY TIMES
Early Times is a nationally known musician as well as a radio host on SiriusXM. Early has toured the U.S. and Europe and was once awarded the Critics’ Choice as Best Guitarist in his hometown Sacramento’s music awards. His newest album Zodiac Griot is his first instrumental album and features many styles showcasing his seasoned guitar playing and mature compositions. Zodiac Griot features Adam Nussbaum on drums and Adam Scone on organ and follows the album Electric City which had several songs receiving major airplay. “Good Soul Music” featured 3-time Grammy winner Bobby Rush. Early Times & the High Rollers combine blues, jazz, soul, and other styles and showcase excellent musical skills and instantly catchy tunes.

Ian is a six time grammy award winner and currently plays saxophone on the Tonight Show with the Roots. He’s recorded/toured with: Amy Winehouse, Al Green, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Dr Lonnie Smith, Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, and many more.
His special guest tonight is vocalist Nicole Zuraitis and we couldn't be more excited! Marshall is one of the most sought after baritone saxophonists on the scene today. Gaining wide recognition early in his career as a member of several ensembles led by trumpet star Roy Hargrove, he’s played with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Arturo O’Farrill, the Charlie Mingus Big Band Beyonce, Kenny Latimore, The Roots, Kevin Mahogany, Gladys Knight, Natalie Cole, the Isley Brothers, and the Temptations. Jason can also be found performing weekly around NYC with his trio.

TYLER HENDERSON
A native of Oneonta, New York, Tyler Henderson began playing piano at age 5. During his time in Houston, Texas, Tyler attended the prestigious High School For Performing and Visual Arts, and had the pleasure of playing with Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Sean Jones, and Don Braden. After being accepted into the Juilliard School in 2019, Tyler moved to New York City to attend school and be a part of the New York jazz scene. Now entering his senior year at Juilliard, Henderson collaborates with many musicians at New York venues such as Smalls, Dizzy’s, the Django, and more. He is passionate about the history of jazz and hopes one day to become an educator along with his performance career.

AKIKO TSURUGA
She’s “Sweet and Funky,” she’s “Cute and Bad.” A Composer. A Performer extraordinaire. Hammond B-3 organ master Akiko Tsuruga has recorded with jazz greats such as Frank Wess, Jimmy Cobb, Grady Tate and other top NY musicians. Her reputation ultimately drew attention of Lou Donaldson as he chose her in 2006 as his quartet’s organist. Akiko has ten albums as a leader to her credit both the U.S. and Japan. Her debut album in the US, “Sweet and Funky,” was selected as a “Best album of 2007” in DOWNBEAT Magazine.

PHILIP HARPER
Trumpeter Philip Harper is a NYC based living legend of jazz and an Uncle Cheef favorite. He’s worked and recorded extensively with such musicians as “Little” Jimmy Scott, Jimmy McGriff, Betty Carter, Etta Jones, Harry “Sweets” Edison and Cedar Walton. Between the years 1986 and 1988 he was a member of Art Blakey´s Jazz Messengers, with whom he made several live recordings.

Chiara Izzi is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Italy who has been based in NYC since 2014, three years after Quincy Jones awarded her first prize in the 2011 Montreux International Jazz Festival Vocal Competition. Since arriving, she’s become one of New York’s busiest vocalists, sharing bandstands with such luminaries as Kevin Hays, Leon Parker, Ken Peplowski, Diego Figueiredo, Jeff Hamilton, Aaron Goldberg, Bruce Barth, Eliot Zigmund, Warren Wolf, and Anthony Wonsey. In an All About Jazz review Michael Bailey praised Izzi as “force of nature,” while in Jazz Times Travis Rogers described her as “a talent to be heard, admired and anticipated.” Chiara states: “My own music includes Brazilian influences, influences from classical music, and things from Pop and Jazz. I take ideas from whatever music I feel an affinity with, and then I try to make it my own."

Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart, a roots rock Americana band based in New York, consists of bassist Chris Anderson (Martin Sexton), drummer Kenny Shaw (Dispatch) and B3 player Todd Caldwell (Crosby Stills and Nash). Rebecca’s big vocals and intimate songwriting accompanied by her soulful band break new barriers with their unique form of Americana. Their album Bright City Lights released in 2018 was called “hauntingly beautiful” by Paste Magazine, and “the rare seven song disc that deserves to be stretched to a full length” by Chronogram.
